Although bullying is sometimes seen as “kids being kids,” imagine how the kid picked on every day, whether physically, socially, or verbally, would feel.
Bullying is a dominant form of youth violence, particularly in school settings. It is defined as assaultive behavior that occurs intentionally within the context of power or strength. Most children experience some form of bullying due to the uneven power and authority recurrent in youth and peer groups. The causes of bullying are varied, meaning any kid might be a target regardless of gender, religion, or socioeconomic status.
Students need schools to be safe environments where they can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Fortunately, there are actions that parents and mentors can take to prevent bullying and harassment in schools and to create a more positive and supportive environment. The culture of school violence can't only be impacted by working with bullies and victims alone, but it also takes consistent and solid action by everyone — students, mentors, and parents.
We have created a lecture that addresses both parents and teachers because both have a considerable part in reducing bullying in our society.
In this lecture, the following topics will be discussed thoroughly:
For Parents
For Teachers
