Habits Of A Highly Effective Mother

Date: May 6, 2024
Author:Riham Monzer, Psychotherapist

According to the American Journal of Psychology AJP, habits are a fixed way of thinking, willing, or feeling acquired through past repetitions of previous experiences. In general, this makes habits incredibly powerful in making people more productive. In specific, mothers who have created habits have better and smoother days.

What makes a mother successful?

All mothers strive to be the best for their families. Motherhood is so much more than just meeting a baby’s needs. It’s maintaining household chores, working, spending time with family and friends, and practicing self-care. The strongest quality a mother has is selflessness; however, recognizing that her personal needs are as important is vital.

Habits a highly effective mother depicts

  1. Makes every second with her child count.
  2. Is always available when needed.
  3. Shows her children the importance of self-worth.
  4. Provides safety and love.
  5. Leads by example.
  6. Spends quality time with her family.
  7. Practices self-care and mindfulness.

What type of mother are you? Setting goals is essential to saving time, solving problems, and overcoming challenges. Keeping a clear path allows a mother to prepare herself for the future.

5 Ways to Being a Highly Effective Mother

1- Practice Hobbies

Having hobbies that you can do independently is essential. It helps you develop your interests and practice something you enjoy far away from family responsibilities.

2- Keep a Positive Attitude

Having a positive attitude helps a mother keep things in perspective. It helps you understand and look for positive solutions. ًShowing positivity with your children includes:

  • Practicing problem-solving.
  • Giving them choices.
  • Speaking to them calmly.
  • Showing & telling them how much you love them.

Pointing out positive behavior and encouraging it are also part of building a healthy relationship through communication.

3- Have a Family Discussion

Creating family time for open discussion can be a healthy option to discuss important matters.  Asking your children and your partner if you are succeeding as a mother can help you assess and analyze your thoughts and actions. In turn, you can also express how you are feeling towards your partner as a parent. You and your partner can also discuss whether your children follow requests, showing good manners, and respect choices.

4- Share Your Dreams

Sharing your dreams with your family portrays ambition and hope. It sets an example for your children that they can pursue whatever they set their minds to. Dedicate time to listen to your partner and children’s dreams too. By doing so, you encourage creativity, creating goals, and perseverance.

5- Plan a Staycation

Due to the current economic situation, many families can’t afford to travel. Yet, families can still choose to explore and visit numerous villages and cities in their own country. Plan family trips that will strengthen bonds, provide experiences and make memories.

A mother supports her family in many ways, such as cooking, teaching, tending to sickness, and providing unconditional support- Just another word for the superhero.
