Memory Games for children improve cognitive function, attention, concentration, focus, critical thinking, and visual recognition. Grid Match is a fun and challenging cognitive activity.

For this activity, you will need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Markers
  • Scissors

How to:

  1. Divide a sheet into squares. (minimum 10 squares for each age, 5 empty and 5 with color pattern)
  2. Cut the sheet into squares.
  3. Draw grids in each square. (minimum is 2x2)
  4. Color the color patterns in the grid cards.
  5. Draw your child's favorite pictures and color them in different colors. For this activity, there are fish and flowers.
  6. Cut out the pictures.

Procedure: (Age: 3+)

  1. Place the pictures and colors in grids in front of your child.
  2. Ask the child which colors are in the grid.
  3. Ask the child how many colors are there in the grid.
  4. Ask the child where they would place the pictures on the empty grid and which colors they would use.
  5. The child places the pictures on the empty grid in the same squares as the corresponding colored in a square grid.

Challenge: Have the child count to 10 while looking at the colored pattern grid. After they complete counting to 10, hide the colored pattern grid and have the child complete the empty grid with pictures from memory.
